movie review: The Day the Earth Stood Still

OK, this is a brief/spoiler free review. I'll post the full review this weekend.

The orginal 'tdtess' was a wonderfully written movie about mankinds need to find peace, and look past our warlike hisotry. The modern version seems to jump onto the enviromental bandwagon. but it's not really clear. What, exactly, have we screwed up? Everything? Anything?

Oh, and the acting is flat. Keanu seems to have found the perfect role for himself, but everyone seems to be doing an interpretation of him. Oh, except for the moron white house rep, who can't wait to attack the aliens, and the annoying child that everyone loves... for no good reason that I could find.

It was nice to see John Cleese in the movie, and in a non comedic role, but it's hard to believe that his argument to save humanity had never occered to the aliens.

Then again, it's not a bad film. and if you're going to pay 10 bucks to see the wolverine trailer, might as well stay for this one.

please stop with the remakes already, they usually blow. When I heard about this, I was kinda pissed, then it went into overdrive when it turns out Keanu was going to be Klaatu and not Gort(the width and breadth of his acting abilities). Bruce Campbell should have been Klaatu, thus completing the circle of geek.
