I cheat on the four panel ones. They are mostly pre-drawn and I recycle everything except the shading and backgrounds.
The ideas are the parts that come a little more slowly. I have a composition book that I keep by the computer to write stuff down.
From start to finish a one panel takes about 15 to 45 minutes to do if I have the idea ready. A four panel takes an hour or two, give or take even with recycling a lot of the line art.
I try to do some sort of custom background for each one. A couple of trees, a windmill, a mountain, something. This one the arrow will have to count as the custom part. I drop the backgrounds in on the left and since that was the arrow's path I dropped the background.
Wiggling around trying to turn my art into stuff for shirts isn't.
I even had a backer once. It didn't pan out though.
With my amazing new income, thanks to the wonderful guys at social security, I have just about enough to eat on every month so running anything entrepreneurial at the moment without backing would be impossible.
I do have a cafe press site but I am the only one who has bought anything from it. It is free for a poo account and pretty cheap for an upgraded account.
I could give that a try I guess. I would assume that a decently popular web toon would have to come before the merchandising.
I am working on that part with mob job first. It is an original idea. I think it will be a fun one to do too. Let's see what happens.
Kay and I are always trying to gets something off the ground and a long time ago we had an idea for a tshirt thing. We never really put our feet to the ground, but we are looking for another idea to get off the ground.
Lets take it slow and see what we can do. Starting with Cafe press is all you really need. What is the website address for your cafe press?

That definitely got a laugh out of me.
How long does it take you to do one of those?

That is pretty cool. Have you ever thought about doing tshirts out of it?

And to be honest I do hope it works out. As nice as my monthly checks are I would rather get by on my own.
